BOTANICAL WEAVINGS
Barcelona-based designer Elisa Padrón develops her weaving project “Botanical Weavings,” a collection of handwoven wall hangings that highlight the beauty of vegetal materials from the Canary Islands. Each piece is carefully crafted between the Canary Islands and Barcelona, with collaborations extending worldwide.
Every wall hanging is one of a kind, reflecting a strong commitment to manual craftsmanship and traditional processes. Inspired by the natural elements that surround us, the project is grounded in the belief that reclaimed materials can be transformed into elevated, high-end pieces.

LOCALLY SELF-PRODUCED WITH CARE
Each wall hanging is woven entirely by hand by Elisa, created individually in her Barcelona studio. Great care is taken in selecting local materials and collaborating with suppliers who share the same principles. Throughout production, every piece goes through five specialized traditional processes: spinning, warping, setting the loom, weaving, and finishing.

HUMBLE MATERIALS
The project is rooted in the belief that reclaimed materials can be transformed into elevated pieces. Four base materials, locally sourced in the Canary Islands, form the foundation of the four woven collections, guiding both the creative and material exploration. This process is defined by an ongoing search for a rich austerity, where the raw character of the elements is refined through thoughtful craftsmanship.

WOOL
A timeless material for weaving, wool ages gracefully. Often left in its natural, undyed state, it has a soft, matte texture, while black accents introduce modernity and rhythm.
BANANA
After the banana fruit ripens, the tree is cut down and its trunk—known as rolo—is sun-dried and hand-carved into thin layers. The fiber is twisted and, as it dries, deepens from soft beige to toasted hues.
DRAGON-TREE LEAVES
Fallen leaves from ancient trees in the Canary Islands, regarded as sacred in indigenous traditions, are formed into cords using a hybrid of weaving and basketry.
PHILODENDRON LEAVES
Endemic to tropical rainforests, this material is characterised by a clay-to-copper hue. Naturally flexible and bulky, it must be carefully gathered, dried, and re-moistened, then hand-twisted before being woven.
